Memory becomes
a place to begin.

Born in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, where he now lives, JT (John) Newman grew up on a farm near a small river town.

His early memories include trips to the nearby Pacific Ocean beach with his grandfathers. They would fish from the shore, then share picnic lunches on the lawn-like swales behind the dunes.

With a longstanding interest in history, geography, and writing, John draws on his observations and memories of those times, events, places, and people in his murder-mystery novella, The Beach.

His books also include Flooded, another mystery featuring Detective Sergeant Bob Annersley, and Overlords: Stories of a Japanese Australia, a collection exploring an alternative history.
